This Teachers’ Day which is celebrated annually on 16 May, we celebrate Miza Raimi binti Mohd Saf’a, an accomplished HLF scholar awarded in 2020, whose story has come full circle from scholarship recipient to vocational lecturer shaping future skilled graduates.
Her path into teaching was not straightforward. After an unsuccessful attempt to enter teacher training, Miza continued to pursue her passion through GiatMara, Civil Engineering and later vocational education, where she found her calling as an educator.
Today, she serves as a lecturer at Kolej Vokasional Kemaman, bringing academic knowledge, industry exposure and practical learning into the classroom to help students connect theory with real-world application.

“The scholarship gave me space to focus on learning and improve myself.”
Receiving the HLF scholarship in 2020 eased financial pressures and enabled Miza to focus on her studies, research and personal growth. It also strengthened her confidence and motivation to pursue excellence.
From learning to impact
Through her TVET education, industry experience and teaching practice, Miza now equips students with technical knowledge and workplace readiness, preparing them for future careers in skilled fields.
Beyond the classroom, she also engages students through innovation projects, technical upskilling and community initiatives that help build both competencies and confidence.

A full-circle journey
For Miza, becoming a teacher is her way of giving back, helping others rise, just as she once did. Her journey reflects the transformative power of education and the impact of investing in talent through skills-based pathways. This Teachers’ Day, we celebrate educators like Miza who inspire the next generation.
