Through Beyond Labels, an initiative under Hong Leong Foundation’s ROAR Skills pillar, the Foundation is committed to advancing inclusion by creating meaningful opportunities for persons with disabilities to acquire skills, build confidence, and achieve greater independence.
By investing in inclusive skills development programmes, Hong Leong Foundation aims to remove barriers, strengthen accessibility, and empower individuals of all abilities to unlock their potential and participate meaningfully in an increasingly digital society.
As part of this commitment, Hong Leong Foundation is providing RM58,600 in support to Yayasan Orang Buta Malaysia (YOBM) to deliver a three-month ICT Skills Development Workshop for the Blind and Visually Impaired Community in Kuala Lumpur.
The programme equips participants with essential digital competencies and practical knowledge in assistive technologies, including JAWS and NVDA screen readers, accessibility features on Android and iOS devices, Microsoft Office applications, internet navigation, email communication, and social media usage. Through these skills, participants are better enabled to access information, enhance employability, and embrace greater digital inclusion.
More than learning digital skills, the programme empowers participants with the confidence and independence to pursue higher education, enhance employability and participate more fully in everyday life.
