Job Summary:
To assist the Mechanical Manager in leading the mechanical maintenance function, ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of plant machinery and equipment. Responsible for maintenance planning, manpower supervision, reliability improvement, shutdown execution, budget control and CAPEX implementation to achieve business objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- To assist the Mechanical Manager in managing all mechanical maintenance activities and departmental affairs.
- To lead, supervise and develop engineers, supervisors, technicians and contractors to achieve maintenance objectives.
- To establish effective communication between management, operations and maintenance personnel.
- To plan and coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs.
- To manage major shutdowns, overhauls and plant improvement projects to ensure timely completion.
- To monitor equipment reliability, investigate failures and implement root-cause corrective actions.
- To prepare, compile and present CAPEX proposals and monitor project expenditure.
- To control maintenance budgets and ensure optimum utilisation of resources.
- To manage contractor performance, service quality and compliance with company requirements.
- To ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory regulations.
- To review maintenance KPIs and provide regular management reports through EPICOR and other reporting systems.
- To encourage and drive continuous improvement programmes such as Kaizen, 5S and productivity initiatives.
- To support manpower planning, competency development and succession planning within the department.
- To conduct inspections and audits on machinery condition and recommend improvements for plant availability and reliability.
- To act on behalf of the Mechanical Manager when required and perform any other duties assigned by Management.
Job Requirements:
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 7–10 years working experience in heavy industry/process manufacturing.
- At least 3 years experience in a supervisory or managerial position.
Skills:
- Able to lead, plan, organise and control maintenance activities and departmental budgets.
- Strong project management, problem-solving and people management skills.
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems and reliability practices.
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
